Personal Progress Development has been a great session since we entered the university . This session have made me think about myself more

The experience gained from the first day which we introduced ourselves was great. Then we had many activities which was fun while improved our personalities.

First the paper tower and some other activities were missed by me. But later I got the chance to involve in other activities.
The short play we did about different cultures were one of the Unforgettable day.
We.used leaves and natural things as costumes.
The Trincomalee camp was the toppest experience of all and it is one of my best memories in the life .
Personally the life goals session was so important to me as I think about it often . As lecturer observed my interest in filmmaking she introduced me to the students and lectures of film and television department in our campus. Now I am having lot of interaction with them . So I am so thankful to our lecturer
On 9th and 10th of December our lecturer arranged a naval leadership camp in Trincomalee for the first and second year students of our course.

Trincomale is one the beautiful city in Srilanka and the special thing is the natural Harbor which is located in Trincomale. So we went to Trincomale Navy camp and it was one of the best ever experience I had.

DAY 01 ( 2017-12-09 )

We started our journey at early morning 3;30 am in our university and their were two buses for our journey. So after some fun time with our friends into the bus we reached a big lake situated in Kandalai. It was very pretty and then we all stop the buses and take some photographs.

After that we again continue our travel and nearly at 10;30 am we reached the Navy Camp and we all were very excited to see that place  which is beautiful with  enough facilities.  Then the girls led to their staying rooms and then boys reached their staying rooms and then we all got ready for our progress developments activities. After that we were taken to the lunch and an officer gave a short speech and finally we reached a beach side to begun our activities.

The first activity was we were separated into four groups and i was in team Delta. Then what happened was we asked to select 8 members in each groups and there was a small square which was tucked with two bamboos and placed it as the square comes in the middle with little bit of high from floor and we were asked to go into the square without touching and if any part of our body touched the square then we were out and once again start  from the first. This is the first activity and we did it with much more interestingly and happily. Then an officer told us the plus and the minus of our group and he especially mentioned that our team wasn't had a unique leader and every body take the leadership and that was the big mistake we did and very quickly we understand our mistake and appointed a leader for the next activity and we started our second activity.

ACTIVITY TWO
The second activity also an interesting to play and this time they asked 8 people from a group without the leader so totally 9 participants from each group and what they did was they gave small PVC plastic and the leader stay front and wants to put the marble into the first person's PVC when the marble touch the PVC only the next person wants to touch his PVC with the other one's. like wise the group wants to pass the marble to the boundary line. We did it nicely and finished game within 5 minutes.

ACTIVITY THREE
This was such a wonderful activity we enjoyed a lot. Now the Officers gave us a little bit big plastic tube. the both front and rear end were opened and also there were many holes in that tube and they asked us to fill the water by taking from sea.

what they  did was they  asked me to remove his t-shirt and then laid down and they kept the tube on my stomach and all they were trying to fill that tube and they ran to sea and get the water into our mouth and in both hands and ran back and poured the water into the tube. like wise we did it repeatedly and we made a huge success from our team work that means we filled it just in 2 minutes and it was wonderful. then the Navy officer took a photograph of our group.

ACTIVITY  FOUR
Now we asked to form 10 people from each group in a queue and they gave us bricks and each of every one wants to keep the brick in their stomach and the person who in front wants to keep that brick without falling down by pushing it with his back and also the other condition was every one wants to keep their hands on the back side of the head then the group asked to move to the boundary line which was kept by the officers without fall down any bricks if any brick fall down then the team wanted to start from the beginning. But this time we didn't finished it correctly.

ACTIVITY  FIVE
The fifth activity was a kind of volley ball.. 4 of our team members will push the ball from one side and one of the same team member will catch from other side.  We had fun and cheered for every push

ACTIVITY  SIx
Pulling rope was the final activity and its the roughest activity.. our team won the first round easily and got selected to the final . But at the final me and other important 2 members needed rest and one of them got an injury. So we lost the match but was a great experience.

DINNER

Finally there came the most Unforgettable dinner of my life. This was the first time I experienced a camp fire . We danced sing songs and acted.  It was awesome. Fun..

Then we returned to the sleeping place

DAY 2

We got up early and took the breakfast before went to the foresting. We used compass and maps to cross a forest with the assistance of navy officers . Then we went to the sniper training place and took the lunch and returned back. That was an different experience. The Trincomalee camp is a Unforgettable event in my life.

One of my best sessions in ppd.. this is an individual activity. We were told to bring a blank bristle boards. Then we were asked to write our life goals in the following three categories
Academic goals
Professional goals
Personal goals

PERSONAL GOALS

Here everyone talked about their family goals and marriage and number of children and building houses and ect.. I too expressed my personal goals

ACADEMIC GOALS

My academic goal was so simple that just finishing the degree. So there were nothing much to talk to me here.

PROFESSIONAL GOALS

This is the thing I talked much as I had many like opening my company making films ect.. I felt relaxed nafter sharing my thought to my friends as I never had anyone listening like this .. It may be because of the lecturer.  Lecturer also listened everyone carefully.

This goal was mind relaxing and made me think about myself even more

Paper tower is the group activity our boys did it in 10/07/2017. I couldn't go on that day and my friends said it was a fun game. They were separated in three groups and couple of them have eight members and one of the group had seven members. Then lecturer gave us 12 piece of A4 papers, tape and a scissor. After that they went out of the class room and madam gave various  place for each groups to stand our paper tower and they were given fifteen minutes time to make our paper tower it means we were asked to build a tower with those twelve papers and the tallest tower builders were the winners.

I understood that this game would have been helpful to develop the the group work skills.. so I missed a fun day.

hi friends,
here is my opinion on whats PPD(personal progress development) on my own experience. At the start of the program,  i thought this irrelevant to our course. so i had a thought that this is waste of time. later i realized that whatever the course we follow, PPD is essential. PPD is essential for living a socialized life. we will now see why is that
As a state university, students here come from different districts who follows different cultures, religion, language and etc. first of all PPD can change the mentality of the students towards these other cultures and making our friendship bond strong together.
the biggest gain to students from PPD to students is developing our personal attitude which can lead to success in life. it gives the some qualities such as teamwork, leadership, respecting other, knowing ourselves, understanding others, developing relationships, self confidence and etc.

how do PPD devolopes these qualities?

PPD sessions contains group activities and individual activities which  can make those qualities grow.
for example, in the activity that we created new culture that doesnt really exists, we learnt team work, obeying leadership and the concept taught us about understanding other cultures. grooming the students mind is the  duty of PPD

what if no PPD?

if there is no such lesson as PPD students would miss a chance to socialize a bit more. definitely i learnt something and everyone leart something and if we have not followed this course we would have been little smaller than now by mind.
